Barnacle Verse
poetry itself is once more dumb
it died again on mapless hills
wasted its breath on eyeless souls
choked on a kernel of penured plains
you challenge the vantage
with pen still moist
—only you don’t know
what you unsaw
and that is the injury
that punctured the vessel…
and same is the sound
of true verse sinking
