Poems Beneath Sky
There’s a seam in the sky where we stopped watching
it’s light and its crack splitting things which get fled
less unlike a carbritter, scaling the air and rich wet burn
we fly below dividers of time … to pretend and pretend … the wings still firm
only those are not the heavier bits, weighting at backs and biting on gum
that horse is just majestic at play … until you hone its beastly imply
and so we strain horizons anew … sniffing for war and subtler game
amazed at reality crushing on shoulder, instilling grave handprint … with food and a smack
The waters go quiet, still screaming with laughter
and we know the way to a sea gone to die
wearing those clothes, from the beasts gone to slaughter
scenting at wind .. as blood turns to mist
