every face
is a new face
is a scared face
is a sacred one
-until it’s not
until it steels/steals itself
and gets lost in those hills
not the pretty
or lifeful ones
(hills, not faces is what we’re talking about)
but the darkandlonely hellish ones
even if you saw a tired face
a mug that’s darkening
but yet has
a little more light
still left upon it …
say hello to that face
lend it your own countenance
for a second …
it will replenish
it’s only a second
no one
doesn’t have
that much change
to spare.
and no one
could afford it either
that holding back
of their very own face
from another
who is struggling
that would be coldness
and there isn’t always
enough sunlight
for that exposure
so …
wear your face
even if you hate to
even if you half-hate it
that landscape of eye … and nose … and smileable teeth
it’s not an accident
it’s a beacon
it needs the other faces
and they need it
Very nice.
